The Goldendoodle gets its name from the mixed heritage
the Golden Retriever and Poodle. Goldendoodles are a hybrid dog, a first generation
cross, and as such they exhibit “hybrid vigour”. This is a phenomenon in animal
breeding referring to the fact the first cross between the two unrelated purebred lines is
healthier and grows better than either parent line.

The AKC has ranked dogs according to popularity in North America. The Labrador
Retriever heads the list at first place, with Golden Retrievers ranked 4th and the Poodle
ranked 5th out of 148 breeds. In his book “The Intelligence of Dogs” Stanley Coren
ranks 79 dog breeds in order of intelligence. Poodles scorded 2nd, Golden Retrievers
were 4th and Labrador Retrievers ranked 7th.
The hybrid cross between these parent breeds are terrific family dogs, friendly,
intelligent, affectionate and easy to train.

Many Poodle crosses inherit the fur qualities of the Poodle, but not the texture. This
means that most don’t shed, or shed lightly, and may not produce an allergic reaction.

F-1 is the first generation Poodle bred to Golden Retriever.
Most first generation Goldendoodles shed lightly and are compatible for families with
    mild allergies.

F-1B backcross is produced by crossing an F-1 Goldendoodle with a Poodle. These
dogs will have a high success rate for non shedding and are recommended for families
    with moderate to severe allergies.

F-2  is the second generation which is a Goldendoodle crossed with another
    Goldendoodle.

F-3 is a F1B Goldendoodle bred to a F1B Goldendoodle (MULTI GENS) are
recommended for people with severe allergies.
